Getting There Week 5: One Of The Cruelest Things You Could Ever Say

All children - that's you and me - long for the approval of their parents. It's a longing that never goes away. It gets buried or transferred to other relationships, but it's there. And we underestimate its power. Every parent wants to be approved by his or her child - to be a hero, to hear, "when I grow up I want to be just like you." As that desire grows, so does a parent's insecurity.

Buried beneath the hurt, disappointment, distance, or silence is a desire to be connected to our children and our parents. It lasts a lifetime.

With even family that is supposed to be close to us, we can get to a place where say about a person, “I don’t care anymore.” There is a lot of pain in this but there are also some lies that we are beliving and something incredible we are overlooking. Listen in...this will matter to you either now or the future. But, it will matter and it is a good idea to get ahead of this while you can.
